Emily Walsh – Baltimore, Maryland
Emily is a recent graduate of Syracuse University with a BA in International Relations. She works on policy and regulatory affairs for Unity Health Care, a non profit dedicated to expanding health care access for the medically underserved through a larger network of community health centers in Washington DC.

Emily is a seasoned traveler through various countries in East Africa, Western Europe and Latin America. Before starting college, she worked as a teacher’s aid and assisted at an orphanage for children with HIV/AIDS in the shanty town of Villa el Salvador, outside Lima, Peru. This experience and her international studies motivated an interest in public health that she hopes will lead to a career in epidemiology, focusing on populations affected by HIV/AIDS.

She is really looking forward to returning to Kenya and joining the other trekkers to support the children of Makindu.
