John Walsh – Baltimore, Maryland
John is chief of staff at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, a bank regulatory agency in Washington, DC. Prior to joining the OCC in 2005, he worked on international issues for more than 25 years, including as Executive Director of an international think tank, the Group of Thirty; staff director of the subcommittee on international finance at the Senate Banking Committee; international economist at the US Treasury Department; and international program analyst at the Office of Management and Budget.

His education includes a degree in engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s degree in international economic policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Following his college graduation, he served in the US Peace Corps in Ghana, West Africa as a high school physics teacher. For the last ten years, he has served on the board of the Baraka School in Kenya, East Africa, established as an innovative overseas educational program for US inner city youth and now in transition to a high school for poor Kenyan youth.
